Methodist Conference
The Texas Annual Conference of the AM.E. Church, colored, closed at
Allen Chapel Sunday night. From the long list of appointments we note
that L.D. Hornady has been given the Bryan charge and S.M. Holmes
transferred to the Central Texas Conference. One of those who attended
the meeting says, "There has perhaps been no conference in the history
of our church in Texas where peace and harmony among the ministers has
been more marked. Bishop Armstrong's fatherly admonitions were
continuously before the body, so that every time there was any
indication of friction it was put aside by the presiding officer."
