AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS, PROVIDING FOR A
SPECIAL ELECTION ON AN INITIATIVE ORDINANCE PROHIRITING THE EXPENDI-
TURE OF FUNDS FOR THE NORTHGATE PUBLIC PARKING GARAGE PROJECT.
WHEREAS, the City Secretary has certified that an initiative ordinance has been submitted in
compliance with Article X of the City Charter of the City of College Station, Texas; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has decided to submit the issue to the voters for their consideration
on May 2, 1998;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS:
SECTION 1: That the following issue shall be submitted for consideration and voted on in the
following format:
"The City of College Station shall not expend, use, or lend
funds, nor shall the City of College Station make grants of
financial aid or grants of any kind, for the development or con-
stmction of the Northgate Public Parking Garage Project
(Council Resolution No. 9-11-97-7b).

SECTION 2:
Against the Ordinance"
That an election is hereby called on May 2, 1998, on said aforementioned initiative
ordinance. If said initiative ordinance shall receive a majority of "for the ordi-
nance'' votes, it shall be declared passed. Said initiative ordinance passing by a
majority of votes shall be entered upon the records of the City of College Station
and be declared by the City Council of College Station to be adopted and shall be
effective thereof. If said initiative shall fail to receive a majority of votes, the
results shall also be entered on the records of College Station, Texas.
SECTION 3: That said initiative ordinance shall follow the Charter Amendment issue on the
ballot.
SECTION 4: That this ordinance shall take effect immediately from and aider its date of final
passage.
PASSED, ADOPTED, and APPROVED this 26th day of February, 1998.
