A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION,
TEXAS AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN A TEXAS HIGHWAY TRAFFIC
SAFETY PROGRAM GRANT AGREEMENT FOR THE SAFE AND SOBER
SELECTIVE TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM WITH THE TEXAS
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION.
WHEREAS, the Texas Department of Transportation has proposed that the City of
College Station participate in its Safe and Sober Selective Traffic Enforcement Program
to reduce driver risk -taking behavior by combining alcohol, safety belts and speed
enforcement efforts to reduce injuries and fatalities on the roadway; and
WHEREAS, the Safe and Sober Selective Traffic Enforcement Program is effective from
October 1, 2001 to September 30, 2002, during which time the City of College Station
shall be reimbursed for 75% of the expenses incurred to operated the program; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of College Station believes that the citizens will
Benefit from the City participating in this Safe and Sober Selective Traffic Enforcement
Program; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE
STATION, TEXAS:
Part 1: That the City Council of the City of College Station, Texas, hereby approves
The grant contract for $55,260 for the Police Department.
Part 2: That the City Council of the City of College Station hereby authorizes the
Mayor to sign the Safe and Sober Selective Traffic Enforcement Program
Grant Agreement referred to above.
Part 3: That this resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage.
