Historic Preservation Committee
Monday, January 10, 2022 – 4:00 pm

The City Council may or may not attend the Historic Preservation Committee Regular Meeting.

Called to order and announced a Quorum at 4 p.m. by Chair Gerald Burgner
Shirley Dupriest made a motion to approve the absences. Sherry Frisk second the motion. The vote was called, all were in favor, and the motion was passed unanimously.
Louis Hodges made a motion to approve the November minutes. Sherry Frisk second the motion. The vote was called, all were in favor, and the motion was passed unanimously.

Agenda Items
Presentation, discussion, and possible action on the proposal for a Texas Historical Marker for a Texas Historical Marker for Parkland Dedication in the City of College Station.
Cemetery Project: Sherry Frisk met with Lowell Herzog who is the tombstone restoration specialist from Brenham cleaned one of the oldest headstones in the Shiloh cemetery and stated
that he found a footstone to be as old as 200 years old. Sherry stated she would be speaking with Ron about addressing the flower beds. She is currently waiting on a reply from Mark
Everette and addressed reviewing a DAR report in the cemetery restoration.
Historic Marker Program: The Wakefield Marker #109 presentation has been moved to
February for the first council meeting. The application for the Patricia Cleere marker located at 601 Guernsey was all in favor to be approved. The Pershing family will be awarded marker
#110 after the marker is paid in full and presented to City Council once scheduled.
Exploring History Lunch Series: David Fujimoto will be the speaker for the February History Luncheon. Marilyn Randall indicated she has speakers reserved up until the month of June 2022.
Sherry Frisk will represent the month of August for exploring history lunch.
McCullough (McCulloch) Neighborhood: Update on Barbara Moore postponed because of COVID.
America’s 250th Birthday: Plan for progressing the program coming up on Wednesday for tips to develop a marketing plan.
American Mile: Nothing to report.

Ana Romero – Gerald Burgner requested a financial report from Ana Romero.
Upcoming events – Sherry spoke of lots of presentations coming up for the Tomb of the unknown soldier.
Presentation of historic items – Lou Hodges brought a box from his grandfather that was with a picture of his mother on it.
Sherry Frisk brought up about discussion of shirts. Ana Romero stated that city management had said yes but will be in the works possibly soon.
Shirley Dupriest made the motion to adjourn the meeting, Marilyn Randall seconded at 5 PM. The next HPC meeting will be held on Monday February 7, at 4pm.
