Special Joint Meeting of College Station City Council
and
A&M Consolidated School Board of Trustees
September 27, 1977
7:30 P.M.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Councilmen Gardner, Hazen, Stephenson; City Manager Bardell
Trustees Fitch, Robeck, Hill
MEMBERS ABSENT: None
VISITORS PRESENT: See guest register
Agenda Item No. 1 -- Discussion of tax office consolidation.
Members of both parties discussed pros and cons of consolidating the School
Tax Office and the City Tax Office.
A list of five problem areas was cited, including:
1. Who would be members of the Board of Equalization?
2. Where the physical location of the office would be?
3. Whose personnel would staff the office?
4. The degree of city involvement in exchange of data or in evaluation
5. The cost factors involved by not consolidating
The general consent of the body was for the two parties to return to their
respective whole bodies and determine whether to investigate the possibility
of merging.
The meeting was adjourned.
