Approved Absence: James McGinnis Unapproved Absence: Lisa Kalmus Staff Attendance: Anne Boykin, Heritage Programs Coordinator Visitors: N/A Agenda Item #1: Call to Order Meeting was called to order by Earl Apgar at 4:05 p.m. Agenda Item #2-3: Hear Visitors: N/A Agenda Item #4: Possible action and discussion on absence requests. James McGinnis’ absence was approved. Agenda Item #5: Possible action and discussion to approve meeting minutes of regular meeting of September 14, 2009. Approved. (SI/hj) Agenda Item #6: Report from Heritage Programs Coordinator. See attached report. Anne B. reported that the Points of Light Foundation forum would not include any of the Presidents Volunteer Service Award recipients. She also reported that Mike Trevino is creating an historic preservation layer to the city’s online GIS map. Agenda Item #7: Committee Reports: • Development & El Camino Real (Liaison) – Susan Irza Susan reported that El Camino Real is on hold until January. She spent the summer getting 10,000 new bookmarks commemorating El Camino Real printed for the Brazos County Historical Commission. • Native American Interpretive Path – Ernie Wright Ernie reported that the sub-meetings with Alston have been good. The meeting with City of CS was most productive and plans are underway to begin the Native American interpretive pathway at Veterans Park. The kick-off will be the Hot Rocks Cook-Off. • Historic Markers Program – Meredith Waller Meredith will meet with Mike Trevino to talk about the Historic Preservation map that he is working on. • Oral History Project – Lou Hodges Lou will be working on scanning in the James Burns Davis A&M scrapbook c. 1928. • PR/Communications/Sponsorships – James McGinnis No report. • Texas Association of Museums (Liaison)/Local History Organizations – Lisa Kalmus No report. • Landmark Commission (Liaison) – Hillary Jessup Hillary reported that there would not be an October meeting. Quimby-McCoy will be presenting to the council in November. The boundaries for the historic district have been drawn. • Educational Initiatives/School Activities – Libby Vastano Libby will be working on promoting the Hot Rocks Cook-Off in the schools. • Volunteer Recruitment – Anne Triche-Steen Anne T. will be working on volunteer recruitment for Project HOLD. • Exploring History Lunch Lectures – Earl Apgar Earl will be meeting with Anne B. and Marci Rodgers to plan the 2010 schedule and to create a marketing packet to solicit sponsors for the lunch lecture meals.
