Agenda Item #1: Call to Order
Meeting was called to order by Hillary Jessup at 4:10 p.m.

Agenda Item #4: Absence Request

Agenda Item #5: Approval of the minutes
Motion was made, seconded to approve the minutes of April 6, 2009. (EA/lh)
Agenda Item #6: Possible action and discussion on HPC Report to Council.
Anne B. reported that the report has been given to the council.
Agenda Item #7: Possible action and discussion on El Camino Real de los
Tejas National Historic Trail.
Susan reported on the trip to Franklin to hear further presentations on the El Camino Real. Susan and Anne B. were among those who made the trip from College Station. Susan also reported
that Brazos County has agreed to contribute $10,000. It was also reported that Barrett Lyne has made significant discoveries of ECR evidence at Bundick Crossing in Robertson County.
Hillary suggested looking in to a dedicated radio channel that could broadcast information on historic sites along the trail. The Brazos County Historical Commission will be presenting
the ECR at the council workshop May 18.
Agenda Item #8: Possible action and discussion on Texas in WWII Oral History
Workshop.
Anne B. reported that 21 attended the workshop taught by William McWhorter from the Texas Historical Commission. The free workshop is one of many opportunities available from the THC.
McWhorter announced a new WWII home sites marker survey is being conducted throughout Texas.
Agenda Item #9: Possible action and discussion on new software for Project
HOLD website.
Anne B. reported that the PastPerfect software purchase is still in the planning stages. The Conference Center building is expected to be outfitted with fiber optic cable by the end
of June. The new cable is necessary to install the software and have it run efficiently.
Agenda Item #10: Possible action and discussion on CSISD celebration, “100
Years of Class.”
Anne B. reported on the progress of the planning committee. The event will be
May 13, 6:00 p.m. at the A&M Consolidated High School.
Agenda Item #11: Possible action and discussion on original College Station
street markers.
Anne B. reported that one marker will be presented at the council meeting May 18.
Agenda Item #12: Possible action and discussion on Texas Historical
Commission Annual Conference.
Anne B. attended the THC Conference, April 16, in Lakeway. Her attendance was cut short by her illness.
Agenda Item #13: Committee Reports:
Landmark Commission (Hillary)
Hillary reported that the commission will meet with the Bryan Landmark Commission on May 25.
Exploring History Lunch Lectures (Ernie, James and Hillary)
All months have been verified except August. James is working on confirming the
Early History of Texas A&M program. James also discussed some of the Fitch family history and importance in College Station residential development.
Historic Markers (Meredith, Hillary and James)
Meredith will be working with the Pleasant Grove Church in the Lincoln area to apply for a marker.
Oral History Project (Lou and Anne T.)
Lou reported that he has made some progress and will be ready next month with
another addition to the transcribed copies of the Oral History Project.
Project HOLD (Lou, Colleen, Susan and Anne T.)
Anne B. reported that technical issues slowed progress this month. These issues
should be taken care of in early summer, according to IT, with the addition of fiber
optic cable to the Conference Center. See attached report.
Education Committee (Ernie, Earl and Lisa)
Earl suggested that ECR would be a good topic for education. Ernie has been talking with Steve Beachy about reviving the Veterans Park Native American interpretive plan. The committee
is planning a sub-committee meeting.

Agenda Item #12: Future Agenda Items
Anne T. will be out of town for the June and July meetings. James will be out of town for the June meeting. Hillary reported that the Zoning Board of Adjustments will be meeting on Tuesday,
May 5, to discuss a variance request from Hugh Stearns concerning a chicken cop on his property at Suffolk and Park Place.
