The City Council may or may not attend the Historic Preservation Committee Regular Meeting.

1. Called to order and announced a Quorum at 4 p.m. by
• Shirley Dupriest made a request for absence. Louis Hodges made a motion to accept the absence request. Sherry Frisk, second the motion. The vote was called, all were in favor, and the motion was passed unanimously.
• Louis Hodges made a motion to approve the January minutes Thomas Smith, second the motion. The vote was called, all were in favor, and the motion was passed unanimously. 2. Jane Cohen with the La Villita DAR Historic Preservation Committee Chair sat in to observe this month’s meeting
3. Agenda Items 3.1 Presentation, discussion, and possible action on the proposal for a Texas Historic Marker for Parkland Dedication in the City of College Station.
• Cemetery Project: Sherry Frisk is researching ways to come up with funding for the state
historical marker for the College Station Cemetery. Sherry Frisk reached out to Kevin Glowacki and Mark Everett who are in charge of working with the penetrating radar equipment. Sherry and Gerald will be attending a zoom meeting with the two on Thursday to discuss rescheduling an event that was canceled last May due to the pandemic. Louis
Hodges suggested doing a brochure on the historic aspects on the cemetery that could be put
in local businesses.
• Historic Marker Program: Sherry Frisk gave an application to her neighbor Mary Wells to apply for a historical marker. There are no new applications at the time. Sherry Frisk is working with parks on getting the spreadsheet updated on the historical home markers.
• Removal Process/Protocol for Historic Markers: Gerald Burgner stated he is waiting to hear back from Leslie Whitten in legal. Ana Romero will reach out to Leslie to see where we are at on the protocol.
• Artifacts; Where Are They?: Gerald Burgner sent out a poll and will review that later this
week on a time to meet.
• Special Research Committee: Committee discussed meeting and looking at historical items. The committee will meet at Linda Harvell’s home on Saturday March 6th at 3pm to look over historical items.
• HPC Social Media Posting: Ana Romero stated any blog postings that the committee would like to get out to reach out to her so she may discuss with Kelly Kelbly. Discussions on hold

3.2 Report by Parks Liaison: Ana Romero will be the new liaison for Parks. She introduced
herself to the committee.
3.3 Jane Cohen spoke about the Boonville Celebration on March 27th. She invited HPC to
attend and will be sending out said invitation to Gerald Burgner.
3.4 Louis Hodges presented a book published in 1985 called why not eat insects.
4. America’s 250th Birthday will be added to next month’s agenda. This will be discussed by the
committee and Jane Cohen on a partnership to come up with project ideas to celebrate the
Nation’s 250th birthday.
5. Motion made to adjourn b, David Fujimoto second by, Sherry Frisk and carried by unanimous vote
at 5:15 PM.
