Monday, November 4, 2019 – 4:00 pm Municipal Court 300 Krenek Tap Road College Station, Texas 77842 The City Council may or may not attend the Historic Preservation Committee Regular Meeting. Present:

Tiffany Gonzalez; Historical Records Archivist - 1. Called to order and announced a Quorum at 4 p.m. by Gerald Burgner 2. There were not any requests for absence.
3. Gerald Burgner, made a motion to approve the October Minutes. Shirley Dupriest, seconded the motion. The vote was called. All were in favor and the motion was passed unanimously. 4. There were not any visitors.
5. Presentation, discussion, and possible action on the proposal for a Texas Historic Marker for Parkland Dedication in the City of College Station
• CS Historical Project: Shirley is halfway through her current project. There were no other updates for CS Historical Project.
• Cemetery Project: Sherry finished the cemetery project on November 2nd and turned in two applications that were sent to Austin. One for the Salem Cemetery and the other for the Shiloh Cemetery. She received an email on November 4th from Austin and the checks are in the mail for the Shiloh and Salem cemeteries.
• Historic Marker Program: Lacey Lively completed the revisions for the historic marker guidelines. They will be presented by Gerald Burgner on November 25th at Council. Lou Hodges made a motion to approve the presentation and Sherry Frisk seconded the motion. The vote was called. All were in favor and the motion was
passed unanimously.
• College Station Oral History Interviews & Educational Initiatives: Tiffany received approval from council for budgets to hire new interns. Tiffany would like to start hiring and training by December before graduating school. Gerald stated he
will send out a posting for the intern position.
• Exploring History Lunch Series: This past luncheon with Ronnie Horcia was very well received and had about 80 or more people which is double the amount when it was at Southwood. Dennis Kubick from Bremond, TX will be speaking at the next luncheon about the Polish community.
• Project Hold Report: There have been a lot of citizen requests, the new pizza place asked for permission to put pictures of project hold in their restaurant and Tiffany approved. Tiffany will be doing a blog post and a blog post of a communication letter. Next month she will be on iheart radio Lacey Lively on December 12th.
Brooke will be sending her a copy this week of the book for publishing she believes
it will be published mid-November.
• HPC Website: Gerald has not gotten to meet with Lacey Lively about the website. Gerald asked who to meet with about applications and getting them online. David
Schmitz stated he would need to speak with Lacey Lively about this. For the
cemetery search research is still being conducted on how to have it on the website and accessible to the public
• Historical Home Awareness: William was not present and unable to give any updates. Gerald went over last month’s discussion about historical home awareness
with David Fujimoto since he was unable to attend October’s meeting.
6. Upcoming Events: There will be a ceremony on Veteran’s day November 11th at Veteran’s Park. Willie Blackmon will be speaking at Allen’s Academy at 10AM then at 5PM he will go to Veteran’s park for the ceremony on November 11th.
7. There were no reports from the Parks Director, David Schmitz.
8. Presentation & discussion on future agenda items. Gerald Burgner will be presenting the
revised Historical Marker Guidelines at the City Council meeting on November 25th. Lou
Hodges made a motion to approve the presentation and Sherry Frisked seconded. The vote
was called. All were in favor and the motion was passed unanimously.
9. Presentations: Lou Hodges, brought historical magazines and also acorns from a burr oak
tree to share with everyone.
10. Motion made to adjourn by Sherry Frisk, seconded by, Willie Blackmon, and carried by a unanimous vote at 4:44PM.
