Chairperson Harvell called the meeting to order at 3:02 p.m. AGENDA ITEM NO. 2: Hear Visitors. There were no visitors who wished to speak. AGENDA ITEM NO. 3: Consideration, discussion, and possible action to approved meeting minutes. Board Member Sanchez motioned to approve the meeting minutes from March 18, 2019. The motion was seconded by Board Member Jansen and was approved (6-0). AGENDA ITEM NO. 4: Presentation and discussion regarding an update on the following items: • TAMU Bicycle Share Program Joe Brummer from VeoRide at Texas A&M University gave an update regarding the Bicycle Share Program. There was general discussion amongst the board regarding the Bicycle Share Program. AGENDA ITEM NO. 5: Presentation, possible action and discussion regarding appointing a member of the BPG Board to the Metropolitan Planning Organization's Alternative Transportation Advisory Panel. Senior Program Manager Venessa Garza gave a presentation regarding the role of the Alternative Transportation Advisory Panel She mentioned needing a representative and alternate from the Bicycle, Pedestrian and Greenways Advisory Board. Board Member Sanchez showed interest in being the representative. Board Member Jansen showed interest in being the alternate representative. Appointing a representative will be discussed more at the next Bicycle, Pedestrian and Greenways Advisory Board Meeting. AGENDA ITEM NO. 6: Presentation and discussion regarding education and e ncouragement including the Annual Brazos Valley Earth Day Festival and May is National Bike Month. Senior Program Manager Venessa Garza spoke regarding volunteering for the festival. She also shared there would be a Proclamation for National Bike Month at the May 13th City Council meeting. She encouraged board members to attend the Council meeting if available. There was general discussion amongst the board. AGENDA ITEM NO. 7: Presentation and discussion regarding bicycle safety. Chairperson Harvell mentioned speaking with Representative John Raney regarding his support o f the safe passing bill. The Board watched the bicycle safety video Public Communications produced for public education. Board Member Sanchez showed the board pictures of different types of separated bicycle lanes and vertical elements. There was general discussion. Senior Program Manager Garza stated that she would be presenting to City Council at the May 13th meeting regarding bicycle safety. There was general discussion amongst the board. AGENDA ITEM NO. 8: Presentation and discussion regarding the Bicycle, Pedestrian, and Greenways Advisory Board calendar of upcoming meetings. • March 21, 2019 N Planning and Zoning Commission Meeting N City Hall, Council Chambers, 1101 Texas Avenue N 6:00 p.m. • April 4, 2019 N Planning and Zoning Commission Meeting N City Hall, Council Chambers, 1101 Texas Avenue N 6:00 p.m. • April 13, 2019 N Brazos Valley Earth Day Festival N Wolf Pen Creek Festival Grounds, 1015 Colgate Drive N 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. • April 15, 2019 N Bicycle, Pedestrian, and Greenways Advisory Board N City Hall, City Hall 2nd Floor Conference Room 1, 1101 Texas Avenue N 3:00 p.m. May 13, 2019 N City Council Meeting N City Hall, Council Chambers N 6:00 p.m. • AGENDA ITEM NO. 9: Possible action and discussion on future agenda items - A Bicycle, Pedestrian, and Greenways Advisory Board Member may inquire about a subject for which notice has not been given. A statement of specific factual information or the recitation of existing policy may be given. Any deliberation shall be limited to a proposal to place the subject on an agenda for a subsequent meeting. Chairperson Harvell asked for a future agenda item to continue discussing bicycle safety and opportunities for creating awareness regarding bicycle safety She also asked if a representative from Public Works could speak to the board regarding the maintenance of streets and bike lanes.
