HomeMy WebLinkAbout01/08/2018 - Regular Minutes - Historic Preservation Committee MINUTES Historic Preservation Committee Monday, January 08, 2018 – 4:00 pm Municipal Court 300 Krenek Tap Road College Station, Texas 77842 The City Council may or may not attend the Historic Preservation Committee Regular Meeting. Present: Committee: Louis Hodges (chair) Marilyn Randall Gerald Burgner Ben Zimmer Andy Smith Chantal Vessali Not Present: Sherry Frisk City Staff: David Schmitz Andrea Lauer Brooke Lisenbardt Linda Harvell (City Council Liaison) 1. Called to order and announced a Quorum at 4 p.m. 2. Sherry Frisk requested an absence and the committee approved her request. 3. The Historic Preservation Committee voted unanimously to approve the December minutes. 4. No visitors were present. 5. The Historic Home Tour brochure is ready and available for distribution at Central Park. No new information for the College Station History Book. The Historic Preservation Committee voted to unanimously approve the Historical Marker for 601 Montclair Avenue. The marker will be awarded at the January Council Meeting. The committee also talked about getting the word out to Historic building owners. No new Historic Marker Program applications. The two previous markers will be presented on January 25, 2018 at the council Meeting. Brooke is in the process of conducting Oral History interviews on former mayors. Ben Zimmer and Marilyn Randal are working on speakers for Exploring History Lunch Lecture they have speakers scheduled through June 2018. Brooke stated that she is still working on cleaning up and organizing Project Hold. She is making it where things are lab eled and more user fr iendly. She is also searching for an unpaid intern. 6. David Schmitz had nothing to update. 7. No upcoming local or area historical programs to report. 8. No future agenda items to report. 9. No historic items were passed around. 10. Meeting was adjourned at 4:58 p.m.
