Workshop Meeting
Planning and Zoning. Commission
Thursday, 7anuary 19, 2006, at 5:30 p.m.
Council Chambers, College Station City Hall
1101 Texas Avenue
College Station, Texas
COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairman Scott Shafer, Commissioners Dennis Christiansen,
Bill Davis, John Nichols, Ken Reynolds,. Marsha Sanford, and Harold Strong.
COMMISSIONERS ABSENT.: None.
CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS PRESENT: John Happ.
PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT SERVICES STAFF PRESENT: Staff Planners Lindsay
Boyer, Crissy Hattl, and Jennifer Reeves, Senior Planners Jennifer Prochazka .and Trey Fletcher,
Planning Administrator Molly Hitchcock, Senior Assistant City Engineer Alan Gibbs, Graduate Civil
Engineers Josh Norton and Carol Cotter, Transportation. Planner Ken Fogle, Director Joey Dunn,
Assistant Director Lance Simms, and Staff Assistant Lisa Lindgren.
OTHER CITY STAFF PRESENT: Assistant City Attorney Carla Robinson and Action
Center Representative Brian Cook.
1. Call meeting to order.
Chairman Shafer called the meeting to order at 5:33 p.m.
2. Discussion of minor and amending plats.

Lindsay Boyer, Staff Planner, presented the Final Plat and stated that a lot line was moved
back and this. was approved by staff
3. Discussion of consent and regular agenda items..
There was general discussion on Regular Agenda Items 6, 8 and 9.
4. Presentation, possible action and discussion on an item to update the Commission on the
status of items within the P&Z Plan of Work. (LS)
Lance Simms, Assistant Director, presented the plan of work.
5. Presentation, possible action and discussion regarding the P&Z Calendar of Upcoming
Meetings.

Joey Dunn, Director, reviewed the upcoming meeting dates for the Planning and Zoning
Commission.
Chairman Shafer stated that the meeting between Parks and Planning and Zoning will be
scheduled for January 23, 2006.
6. Presentation, possible action and discussion regarding the process of scheduling, advertising
and updating the Unified Development Ordinance.
.Molly Hitchcock, Planning Administrator, presented the housekeeping items of the 2006
UDO Annual Review.
7. Discussion and possible action on future agenda items - A Planning and Zoning Member
may inquire about a subject fox which notice has not been. given. A statement of specific
factual information or he recitation of existing policy may be given. Any deliberation shall
he limited to a proposal to place the subject on an agenda for a subsequent meeting.
Chairman Shafer requested the. following items be added to .future workshop or regular
agendas; the process of the annual UDO updates and a possible open public meeting so that
Citizens came come and ask questions and get information regarding items such as the
Comprehensive Plan Amendment and Rezoning for the Sebesta area.
Chairman Davis would like an agenda item to discuss clarification on the ability to comply
with the open meetings act.
8. Adjourn.
Commissioner Davis motioned to adjourn. Commissioner Nichols seconded the
motion, motion passed (7-0).
