MEMBERS ABSENT: Terri Tongco COUNCIL MEMBERS PRESENT: Lynn McIlhaney, Vicki Reinke, Bob Runnels, Pat Boughton and Gary Anderson. SIGN COMMITTEE MEMBERS PRESENT: E. W. Schultz, Phil Springer STAFF PRESENT: Al Mayo, Dir. of .Planning, Jane Kee, Zoning Official, Jim Callaway, Asst. Dir. of Planning and Kim Johnson, Asst. Zoning Official. 1. Discussion of Proposed Sign Ordinance. • Mr. Schultz summarized the philosophy and activities of the committee since its appointment and indicated the major changes from the current sign ordinance. The majority of discussion centered on the concept of amortization with other discussion centering on banners and flags, maintenance of banners, non-conforming signs and signs for conditional uses. Specific comments and/or questions raised by persons in attendance included: 1. Some standard should be included in Section 2.N. - Signs for Conditional Uses for the P & Z to follow in determining sign requests. 2. Perhaps a maintenance clause should be included in Section 2.M. Banners and F1~gs. 3. Should the size of national and state flags be limited? 4. What is the economic cost of lowering a sign? 5.
