SPECIAL WORKSHOP
CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS
Planning and Zoning Commission
May 4, 1983
4:00 P.M.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Hill, Members Kelly, Hansen, Bailey, Kaiser, Martyn & Miller
MEMBERS ABSENT: None
STAFF PRESENT: Director of Planning Mayo, Asst Director of Planning Callaway, Zoning
Official Kee, Planning Technician Volk and City Attorney Denton (who
spoke to the Commission)
AI Mayo opened the meeting stating the purpose of this special meeting was to introduce
the new Commissioners to each other and to the staff. Each Commissioner introduced him-
self and gave his general professional background.
City Attorney Lowell Denton then spoke to the Commission concerning general rules, guide-
. lines, statutes and ordinances which govern the P&Z Commission. He pointed out that this
Planning and Zoning Commission is a non-legislative body; a factual determining body and
one which makes policy decisions based on planning theories.
A general question and answer session followed after which the meeting was adjourned.
