Agenda Item No. 2 - Review of 110 acre tract (University West)
located on University Drive and FM 2818 (West By-Pass) .
Commissioner Boyett called on City Engineer Ford for discussion
regarding this agenda item. Mr. Ford advised that at the last
meeting of the commission, Chairman Calliham wanted to make
some sort of recommendation to the council and the Mayor regarding
the utilities of this tract. Commissioner Mathewson made a
motion that the P&Z recommend to the council that the city start
discussions with Texas A&M University to determine feasibility
of corperating a sewer system for all of the land west and north
of the University, which naturally drains toward the Brazos
River. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Longley and was
unanimously carried.
Agenda Item No. 3 - Committee appointments. Since Chairman
Calliham was absent from the meeting, Commissioner Boyett
suggested the commission wait until the next meeting or when
Chairman Calliham could be present, to set up the appointments.
This was agreeable with all commission members present.
Agenda Item No. 4 - Other business. Commissioner Boyett asked
City Engineer Ford if he knew of any other business. Mr. Ford
answered that he did. He then presented a zone change request
which did not have time for a public hearing. This was in regards
410 to a 116 acre tract on Highway 30 and Highway 6 (East By-Pass) .
Mr. Ford then introduced Mr. Colson, who along with his associates,

presented preliminary plats to the commission for their review
and comments. After considerable discussion among the commission
members and Mr. Colson and his associates, regarding the park
site, flood elevation, the breaking down of blocks into lots,
and general use of the property, the P&Z suggested to the
developers that they come before the commission at the next
meeting. This would be a workshop session on September 17 ;
however the commission would begin this workshop as a regular
meeting in order to consider the plats for a public hearing
and recommendation to the council for further action. Mr.
Colson and associates stated that this would be fine and
they would appear before the commission then, as suggested.
Commissioner Boyett inquired if anyone knew of any other business.
Commissioner Chaney advised that the Planning Seminar would
be held in Austin at the Villa Capri on September 13 through
the 15th. Commissioner Chaney also asked if the city was
planning to participate regarding expenses to the seminar.
Commissioner Boyett suggested that someone from the commission
check with City Manager Boswell as to whether or not the city
would be participating.
Agenda Item No. 5 - Hear visitors. Commissioner Boyett asked
if there were any visitors present who would like to bring
any item before the commission for consideration. No one spoke.
Agenda Item No. 6 - Adjourn. On motion by Commissioner Longley,
I and seconded by Commissioner Mathewson, the meeting was
