Planning and Zoning Commission
December 6, 1971

The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by the Chairman. On motion by
Commissioner Boyett, seconded by Commissioner Wallace, the minutes of the meeting
of Novmember 15, 1971 were unanimously approved.
Mr. W. D. Fitch, of the Area Progress Corporation, presented an interim master
land use plan of the Area Progress Corporation land north of FM 2818 and west of Highway
6 was prepared by the Area Progress Corporation for the review and consideration thereof
by the Planning and Zoning Commission. As the City Planner and some of the Commissioners
were not present, the Commission did not take any action on this item.
On motion by Commissioner Boyett, seconded by Commissioner Landiss, P&Z
Case No. 31-71, a request from the Area Progress Corporation for changing the zoning
of a 13.2 acre tract of land between the Ponderosa Place and the Deacon Place from
District No. 1, First Dwelling House District to District No. 4, First Business District,
was unanimously passed and approved.
The Chairman pointed out that in Section C. 1 of the new Zoning Ordinance, apartments,
boarding houses, dormitories and rooming houses are a problem in commercial zones and
should not be allowed. On motion by Commissioner Boyett, seconded by Commissioner
Landiss, the Commission unanimously agreed to delete these from commercial zones.
The Chairman tentatively set the 20th of December as a date for the review of the
Zoning Ordinance, pending the attorney's review and comments.
On motion by Commissioner Boyett, seconded by Commissioner Wallace, the
meeting was unanimously adjourned subject to call.
