PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION
APRIL 19, 1971 MEETING

Present: Chairman C. D. Wells; Commissioners George Boyett, Robert 0. Evans,
and Carl Landiss
Absent: Commissioners Douglas Stone, Carl Tishler and J. A. Orr (deceased)
Visitors: W. D. Fitch, Edward Miller, John Heyde, V. H. Litchford, and
Frank Griffis
Chairman Wells called the meeting to order at 7:05 P.M. in the
Council Room at City Hall. Minutes of the March 15, 1971 meeting were read
and approved upon motion by CommissLoner Evans, seconded by Commissioner
Boyett. Motion carried.
P&Z Case #12-71 - The preliminary plat of "Deacon Place Section #1 "
was presented to the Commission. After a brief
discussion, the Commission elected to approve the plat with one change. The
wording "Proposed addition to Hwy. 6 R.O.W. " is to be changed to "Addition
to Hwy. 6 R.O.W. ". Motion was made by Commissioner Boyett, seconded by
Commissioner Evans. Motion carried unanimously.
P&Z Case #15-71 - The preliminary plat of "Southwood Section #18"

was presented to the Commission. A motion to
approve the plat was made by Commissioner Boyett and seconded by Commissioner
Landiss. The motion was carried unanimously.
A preliminary print of the revision of the College Station master
street plan was shown by the transportation committee. It was discussed in
some detail by the Commission. The basic difference between the original
and the revision is that the revision includes a major street plan for the
extraterritorial jurisdiction of College Station.
No action was taken, since the print was preliminary.
A letter from the Area Progress Corporation requesting the renewal
of the Commission's approval of a preliminary plat of West Knoll, Section III
was read to the Commission by Chairman Wells. Upon a motion by Commissioner
Landiss and second by Commissioner Evans the Commission unanimously elected to
approve the request to extend approval of the preliminary plat of West
Knoll Section III for six months.
A letter from V. H. Litchford requesting that the Commission remove
from the table P&Z Case #20-70 was read by Chairman Wells.
Upon motion by Commissioner Boyett and seconded by Commissioner
Evans, the Commission voted unanimously in favor of the request.
The Planning and Zoning Commission made a recommendation to the
City Council concerning the development of Hwy. 6 south from Jersey Street.
Their recommendation is: Hwy. 6 south of Jersey to a point between 300 and
500 feet south of Holleman Drive should include six (6) eleven-foot lanes,
and a fourteen-foot center median with left turn pockets at each intersection.

Chairman Wells then asked for a motion to adjourn the meeting.
The motion was made by Commissioner Boyett, seconded by Commissioner Landiss.
The motion carried unanimously.
