The Chairman called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Room of
the City of College Station, Texas.
• The Minutes of the July 7, 1969 meeting were approved as written.
The first item of business was the consideration of a preliminary plat for Glade
East, bounded on the south side by Holleman Drive, approximately 150 feet east
of Glade. The Planning and Zoning Commission directed questions to B.R. Craig,
Developer of the plat in question.
The Chairman asked if there were any citizens present who wished to express
their opinion regarding this plat. Several citizens from the audience stated that
they wished to go on record as being very much opposed to approval of this plat
because of the present flooding conditions in Bee Creek area. They stated that
their property had been heavily flooded during the last heavy rain in April of this
year and that they felt more property being subdivided (especially apartments or
duplexes) would create a greater flooding hazard to their property than exists at
the present time.
Some citizens in the audience directed questions to the chairman regarding
zoning laws and subdivision regulations. After considerable discussion with
citizens, the question of approval or disapproval of the subdivision plat in question
was brought back to the table.
III After considerable discussion among the Commission members, Commissioner
Baur moved that the preliminary subdivision plat of Glade East be recommended to
the City Council for approval with the following stipulations:
