MINUTES OF PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION ' llierl'24,(.)
February 23, 1968
Members present: Burns, Chairman; Janne, Smith and Horne. (Ed Burns was
in possession of proxies from Ed Cooper and Dennis Goehring)
The meeting was called to order at 3:00 p.m.
Mr. Barney Stevenson presented a redrawn plat to the Commission and it was
explained that he had set his fence back 5-feet to allow the city to have a 30-foot
street. (Nimitz Street bordering his property.)
Chairman Burns explained the redrawn plat to members present and indicated
that Cooper and Goehring voted yes for approval of the plat.
41111 A motion was made by Smith that we recommend to the City Council that the
revised Memorial Square preliminary plat be approved subject to obtaining adequate
right-of-way of Nimitz Street by means of purchase by the City of College
Station of five (5) feet of property on the west side of the plat that conforms to
the necessary right-of-way designated by the City Engineer.
The motion was seconded by Janne.
Smith offered an addendum to the motion as follows: We recommend that the
additional 5-feet of right-of-way be purchased from Mr. Stevenson by the City
in view of the fact that this additional right-of-way represents the third demand
upon this property for Nir_^.�tz Street right-of-way.
The four members present voted yes. Two proxy votes held by Burns voted yes.
The motion carried.
