HomeMy WebLinkAbout04/20/1965 - Minutes - Planning & Zoning Commission MINUTES OF CITY PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION 0 The City Planning and Zoning Commission met at the College Station City Hall at 7:30 P.M. on April 20, 1965 and the following were present: Chair- man E. E. Burns, J. B. Hervey, R. F. White, J. W. Sorenson, D. A. Anderson and W. A. Smith. Mr. Ran Boswell, City Manager, was present at the meeting. Mr. Anderson moved that after further consideration of the problem of rezoning of Lots 1 , 2, 3, and part of Lot 4, Block 19, Boyett Survey, owned by H. M. Pitner, the commission recommends to the council that the area be retained as No. 2 Residential thus rescinding the previous action of the commission on February 25, 1965. Motion seconded by Mr. Hervey. Motion carried. Mr. Hervey moved that the commission in connection with the request of Mr. 0. M. Holt delay action for purposes of further consideration of this request. Mr. Sorenson seconded the motion. Motion carried. After considerable discussion of zoning of sections of College Station for industrial purposes, the idea was developed that the zoning should be pred- icated upon the type of industry involved and there is a need to define the type of industries that would be desirable for College Station. Mr. Hervey moved that we make a recommendation to the city council that ` immediate steps be considered to request of the County Commissioner in this precinct that right of way be acquired for an extension of County Road from Glade Street to Highway 6. Motion seconded by Mr. Anderson. Motion 411 . carried. Mr. Sorenson moved that the commission recommend to the council that they request the Highway Department to look into the feasibility of a Farm to Market Road extending from Highway 6 to FM 2154 and extending on to Easter- wood Air Field. Mr. Richardson seconded the motion. Motion carried. The City Planning and Zoning Commission will meet on the third Monday in June (June 21, 1965) and quarterly thereafter. APPROVED: ofi�i / L,!
