Call to Order
The 75th Anniversary Committee was called to order by Chair Linda Harvell at 8:32 a.m. on November 7, 2013 in the College Station City Hall, 1101 Texas Avenue, College Station, TX 77840.
2. Hear Visitors
City Manager, Kelly Templin stopped in to introduce himself and thank the committee and its volunteers for all of their dedicated effort.
3. Consider Approval of Previous Minutes
MOTION: The Committee voted to approve the minutes.
4. Sponsorship and Recognition of Sponsors
Sherry Frisk notified the committee that the ribbons are in the office of Mike Neu. The ribbons labels are Sponsor, Committee, and Contributor.
Mike Neu showed the design for the nametags with the 75th Anniversary logo and the donor’s name. He will send a list for the nametags along with the template to Linda Harvell.
Linda Harvell will complete the nametags and have them printed.
Linda Harvell, Gary Ives, and Sherry Frisk will meet on November 10th at 3 p.m at the home of Ms. Harvell and assemble the nametags and affix the ribbons.
Blank nametags will be available at the nametag distribution point, Ann Boykin may be available to user her calligraphy to apply the names.
5. Promotion and Media
Mike Neu reported that the invitations for the November 12th VIP event have been emailed, some of the committee did not receive them and he will check the email list.
Linda Harvell requested a list of invitees from Mike Neu to check for omissions.
Ben White will contact all former mayors personally and invite them to the November 12th VIP event.
Mike Neu reported that all the former mayors have signed the VIP posters and they are now out for framing.
Mike Neu is arranging the exchange of the committee shirts, the sizes are running small.
6. Bush Library Exhibit Update
Mike Neu has arranged docent training at Bush Library on November 12th from 11-12 p.m. Docents may be needed on November 14th for visiting school children. The Library is requesting
a few committee docents show up to the Library’s docent training to help them with the College Station exhibit.
May need extra docent’s December 3rd, 4th, and 5th for high school tours.
Mike Neu reported that the Bush Library exhibit most of the panels have been created and the space is filled. The exhibit will not be complete by the VIP event, but will be by the November
16th opening.
7. Homecoming Events, planning
November 12th VIP event:
The committee changed the arrival time for setup volunteers to 3 p.m.
David Schmitz will arrange trash receptacles for this event.
Need volunteers to break down tables and chairs after the event, a signup sheet was passed around.
Friday, November 15 Homecoming event at Southwood:
Committee discussed the dinner and event at the Southwood Community Center at Brian Bachmann Park. Currently, 220 reservations for the dinner have been received and a guarantee has
been given to Jcody.
Gary Ives has found potted roses for the mugs to be displayed as centerpieces. Roughly 30 centerpieces will be needed.
Mike Neu reported that a liquor permit was pulled for this event by The Corner Bar, he is looking into the connection with JJ’s Liquor.
Saturday November 16th Event, Bush Library and Grounds:
Storytelling is scheduled from 10-12 p.m. and Mike Neu has list of tentative speakers and their topics.
Mike Neu reported that a photographer may be hired to document this event.
Allison Meserole has been in contact with local personalities to perform duties of announcing, including Scott DeLucia, Ben Downs, and Chase Murphy as possible participants. She also
reported that the performances are lined up and other necessary equipment has been arranged for the event.
Scott Simpson has arranged a public ribbon cutting with the Chamber of Commerce; an invitation will be extended by the Chamber to its membership.
1938 House Signage:
Jerry Cooper and Libby Vastano will distribute the historic home signs on Sunday, November 10th.
8. Report- Car Show
B. B. Holland reported that enrollment is steady at 50 automobiles for the show.
Mike Neu will coordinate with Tracy Paine to arrange signage and trash receptacles for this event.
Linda Harvell will contact Tracy Paine to see if it is possible to arrange workers to direct parking from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. - efficiently moving visitors, car show participants, and performers
to their parking areas.
9. A&M Garden Club
Linda Harvell and Jerry Cooper may be added to the list of speakers at this event.
10. THE NEXT MEETING OF THE 75th ANNIVERSARY PLANNING COMMITTEE IS SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY, November 14th, 2013.
An additional meeting of the 75th Anniversary Planning Committee was added for Wednesday, November 20th, 2013 at 8:30 a.m.

11. Adjournment
MOTION: There being no further business, the Regular Meeting of the 75th Anniversary Committee was adjourned at 10:06 a.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2013.
