1. Call to Order
The 75th Anniversary Committee was called to order by Chair Linda Harvell at 8:30 a.m. on September 12, 2013 in the College Station City Hall, 1101 Texas Avenue, College Station, TX
77840.
2. Hear Visitors
There were no visitors.
3. Consider Approval of Previous Minutes
MOTION: The Committee voted to approve the minutes. Minutes were approved.
4. Sponsorship Workshop
Chair Harvell introduced the meeting and thanked all of the 75th anniversary committee members for their efforts.
Committee discussed current status of fundraising. It was reported that approximately $48,000 was pledged thus far. Members were encouraged to contact pledges who had not yet paid,as
approximately $10,000 pledges were outstanding.
5. Promotion and Media
Mike Neu reported that 75th activities were being promoted in Texas Aggie, Texas Aggie, and Insight magazines. Committee suggested implementing regular radio spots and a promotional
issue of the Eagle.
Chair Harvell reported that the Facebook page is receiving many good posts, and is gaining popularity.
Committee discussed distributing posters and flyers as well.
Mike Neu reported that the City website now has the:
Cstx.gov/heritage
page and encouraged members to think of content for the page and send to him.
6. Bush Library Exhibit Update
Mike Neu reported that preparations for exhibit construction were ongoing. He presented an informational sheet.
Committee discussed aspects of the Bush Library exhibit (October 21 through January 4th) and event (Sat. Nov 16, 9:30 to 5)
Possible items under discussion, either directly as exhibits, or for informational purposes to develop content included:
Loan of antique senior boots
Material related to the house cut in two during a divorce settlement
Items from local houses of worship, including crosses, benches, textiles, stained glass
Vintage media soundboards, equipment, and sound clips
Integration of floral and plant elements into exhibits, to be created by the A&M Garden Club members
Placement of sponsorship disks at entrance to exhibit
John David Crow signed football
Mike Neu reported that he is ready to schedule donation of exhibit items as soon as possible. He distributed a signup sheet for delivery times. He stated that Fridays were the best day
for him.
Committee determined that volunteers and docents could be trained for the event and exhibit.
Committee discussed aspects of the Saturday, November 16, event at Bush Library.
Committee discussed entertainment, such as bagpipes. Gary Ives stated that Reveille is scheduled to appear at 3pm, which is also the time of the cake cutting as well. Kroger has agreed
to supply a cake. Plans are still being made to make the miniature train rides available.
Committee discussed other events specific to the Bush Library:
The VIP event (October 22)- Messina Hoff has donated wine and a free room stay
Insight Magazine Launch Party and Ribbon Cutting (October 29)
A showing of the film “We’ve Never Been Licked” (November 14)
7. Homecoming Events, planning
Committee discussed the Homecoming Event (Friday, November 15). Linda Harvell announced that tickets for the dinner were available for $12 per ticket from txtraders.com. People who want
to attend can sends funds directly as well. Pattie Sears reported that bids have been sent out C&J and JCody’s and the Hilton.Hilton was willing to provide a cash bar, and both caterers
quoted approximately $10 dollars per plate. Linda Harvell reported that Chris Martinez agreed to provide entertainment.
Committee also discussed new ideas to promote the 75th including:
The availability of an exhibit case at Ringer Library for use
Rededication of Carter Park
Signage recognizing houses that existed during the time of incorporation.
Report- Art and Essay Contest
Committee determined that the art and essay contest would be difficult to coordinate with school curriculum. So no further plans are being made.
8. Report- Car Show
B. B. Holland reported that he has contacted several classic automobile clubs, and expected good attendance. He has passed out flyers and the registration form. Committee discussed securing
the firetruck as well as ensuring a presence at Worldfest.
B.B. Holland requested refreshments, restrooms and shade for car show participants and committee discussed logistics of providing these.
9. New Business
10. THE NEXT MEETING OF THE 75th ANNIVERSARY PLANNING COMMITTEE IS SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY, September 12, 2013.

11. Adjournment
MOTION: There being no further business, the Regular Meeting of the 75th Anniversary Committee was adjourned at 10:04 a.m. on Thursday, August 15, 2013.
