Call to Order The 75th Anniversary Committee was called to order by Chair Linda Harvell at 8:35 a.m. on March 14, 2013 in the College Station City Hall, 1101 Texas Avenue, College Station, TX 77840. 2. Hear Visitors There were no visitors. 3. Consider Approval of Previous Minutes MOTION: The Committee voted to approve the minutes. Minutes were approved. 4. Scheduling and Event Specifics Committee discussed event scheduling. October 23rd was stated to be the actual opening of the Bush Library exhibit. Tuesday, October 22nd was suggested as a date for an event for VIPs and large sponsors upon verification by Bush Library staff. No firm date was set for a ribbon cutting. Friday evening INSERT DATE HERE was suggested for a homecoming at Southwood Community Center. A homecoming/Reunion event at Bachmann Park is suggested to occur on INSERT DATE HERE. Parks Director David Schmitz requested setup information when it is finalized. 5. Sponsors Committee discussed sponsorships. Chair Harvell reported that letters to the Chamber of Commerce have been sent out, and encouraged members to contact potential sponsors. Members were instructed to inform Jacob Morris when a potential sponsor was contacted, so that a master contact list could be maintained that would help avoid contacting the same sponsor multiple times. City Secretary Sherry Mashburn offered to print sponsorship packets for members, on a by-request basis in order to conserve paper. 6. Budget Chair Harvell passed out a working budget spreadsheet, and encouraged committee members to contact her with suggested changes. 7. Publicity Chair Harvell reported that she was recently on Infomaniacs and that Mayor White will discuss sponsors on the show Monday the 18th. Mike Neu reported that City Staff has added the 75th Logo to email signatures. A banner in the Eagle paper promoting city history was suggested. Committee discussed a tagline for 75th related events. Suggestions included: All aboard the College Station 75th Birthday Express All Aboard for College Station 75 years! Celebrate/Celebration College Station Citified for 75 Years 8. Additional Planning and Reports related to 75th Activities Committee discussed overall layout and content of proposed Bush Library exhibit. Committee discussed ideas for a railroad model display, use of airport searchlight. PD robot, Olympic medals and shot put, the 1979 human backgammon world record, roland chatham photographs of the city, cotton bowl cards, golden fire axe, wedgewood plates of campus, culpepper realty sign, 1903-04 Longhorn Yearbook. It was reported that Museum staff would like to have exhibit items by June first. Committee discussed other events, Chair Harvell reported that new Historic Preservation Committee Member, Gary Ives, has offered to work on the reunion event. 9. New Business 10. THE NEXT MEETING OF THE 75th ANNIVERSARY PLANNING COMMITTEE IS SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY, APRIL 11, 2013. 11.
