Extension of the American Mile – A few citizens have asked about this. Jerry Cooper suggested that we need to look at possible events that are worth recognizing and consider whether
there are enough to mark at this time. (Ex: Election of Barack Obama, BP Oil Spill in Gulf, Chilean Miners, Death of Osama bin Laden, Aggies win Big 12 Conference, Lady Aggies win National
Championship, new CS High School.) The Historic Preservation Committee will be asked to consider this.

Patricia Cleere.
Social Oral Histories – Patricia Cleere suggested that we consider various social histories from groups such as “The Guernsey Gang.” The Historic Preservation Committee will be asked
to consider this.
Banner Signs, etc. – Anne B. will check with Joey Dunn who worked on the first city banners that were placed around the A&M perimeter on the light poles. Jerry C. mentioned that the
12th Man Foundation has a tight control on these now. It was suggested that we try to get the 75th logo on some of the light poles around the city. Patricia C. suggested some type of
signage on the large stop signs. Jack F. suggested on the city limits signs.

Miscellaneous Notes:
Jerry Cooper submitted this change in the April Meeting Notes: The Texas City publication "The Stingaree Tales" is a quarterly newsletter published for all graduates of Texas City High
School. While it has run some articles promoting the city's 100th anniversary this year, it has been published since the 1980s. It contains articles written by graduates about high
school experiences, current achievements, and general news about graduates as well as birthdays, new subscribers, etc. It also runs historical columns about the city's history. I
am advocating that such a newsletter be produced by Consol grads both the help promote the anniversary, but to be a continuing avenue for Consol grads to keep up with one another and
learn more about their hometown.
