HomeMy WebLinkAbout11/12/1947 - Regular Minutes - City CouncilMINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING November 12, 1947 The City Council met in a regular meeting with the following members present: Mayor Ernest Langford; Councilmen Ames, Brown, Orr, and Badgett; City Secretary McGinnis; and City Manager Vaughn. Visitors present: Mr. & Mrs. K. E. Elmquist, W. T. McDonald, A. P. Boyett, L. E. Winder, M. L. Parker, Jr., R. J. Bond, Newton Burlin, Ben S. Ferguson, Norton Burkhalter, Walter J. Hart, W. L. Coughlin, Henry G. Jones, Eugene Rush, G. W. Schlesselman, Mr. & Mrs. Louis G. Reis, Jr., Mrs, R. V. Andrews, and T. R. Spence. The majority of the visitors were present to protest the Sinclair Oil Company putting in a pipe line along Old Highway 6 in the City Limits. The Mayor explained that certain conditions which have come up may make it desirable for the pipe line to by. -pass the city, therefore no official action was taken. Construction bids for the City warehouse and office building which were as follows: C. L. Andrews $20,978.60 R. Be Butler 210750.00 Councilman Orr made a motion that the Council accept the low bidder, C. L. Andrews. This motion was seconded by Councilman Ames and the vote was unanimous in favor of the motion.
