A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS,
ACTING AS THE CANVASSING BOARD TO CANVASS THE GENERAL AND SPECIAL
ELECTIONS CONDUCTED ON MAY 10, 2008.
WHEREAS, on May 10, 2008, the Municipal General and Special elections were held for the purpose
of electing three council members to Places 1, 3, and 5, and voting in a special election for voter
consideration of the City of College Station establishing a limitation on the amount of ad valorem taxes
imposed on the residential homestead of a person who is disabled or is sixty-five (65) years of age or
older and receives a residential homestead exemption, as authorized by Article VIII, Section 1-b(h) of
the Texas Constitution.
WHEREAS, the returns tabulated at Central Counting held in the College Station City Council
Chambers on May 10, 2008 recorded a total of 5,551 votes cast or 15.39% of the registered voters at
said elections; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED that each of the candidates for Council Places 1, 3, and 5; and Proposition No. 1,
received the following number of votes in the elections:

PROPOSITION NO. 1
The City of College Station establishing a limitation on the amount of ad valorem taxes imposed on the
residential homestead of a person who is disable or is sixty-five (65) years of age or older and receives
a residential homestead exemption, as authorized by Article VIII, Section 1-b(h) of the Texas
Constitution.

PART 2: That the City Council officially finds, determines, and declares that the election was duly
and properly ordered, that legal notice of such election was duly given in the English and Spanish
language, that the election was duly and legally held, and all residents, qualified voters in the City of
College Station, Texas were permitted to vote at the election; and
PART 3: That the City Council hereby certifies that this resolution contains the total of all votes
received by each candidate including early votes as prescribed by Section §87.1231 of the Texas
Election Code and that the results have been duly canvassed in accordance with State Law; and
PART 4: That the precinct results for each candidate for Election Day and Early Voting shall become
a part of this Resolution; and
PART 5: That John Crompton was duly elected as City Council member, Place 1 for a three year term;
that Dennis Maloney was duly elected as City Councilmember, Place 3 for a three year term; that
Lawrence Stewart was duly elected as City Council member, Place 5; and, that Proposition No. 1
passed to limit the amount of ad valorem taxes imposed on residential homestead of a person who is
disabled or is sixty-five (65) years of age or older and receives a residential homestead exemption, as
authorized by Article VII, Section 1-b(h) of the Texas Constitution; and
PART 6: That the above named persons shall take their oath of office and receive certificates of
election as prescribed by the laws of the State of Texas and the Charter of the City of College Station.
