HomeMy WebLinkAbout01/15/2008 - Regular Minutes - Bryan College Station Library System Advisory Board MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING BRYAN+COLLEGE STATION PUBLIC LIBRARY SYSTEM ADVISORY BOARD January 15, 2008 On the 15th day of January 2008, the Bryan + College Station Public Library System Advisory Board of the cities of Bryan and College Station, Texas, met in a regular meeting at the Larry J. Ringer Library, 1818 Harvey Mitchell Parkway South,Bryan,Texas, and the following members were present: 1. Also present were Clara Mounce, Community Librarian; Joey Dunn, Deputy City Manager, City of Bryan, and Laura Mills, Adm. Asst. Visitor was Clint Sayers. 3. There was not a quorum present so there was no voting or action taken. 4. The minutes of the meeting for November 13,2007 were discussed. 5. The monthly stats for November and December 2007 were discussed. • 6. A. In old business, Mary Fran Troy stated that she had made a presentation at the public forum College Station Capital Improvement Committee supporting the Larry Ringer expansion plans. Other topics presented by citizens included transportation needs, fire station,parks, senior center and a new city Hall. 7. The election of officers was postponed until the March meeting. 8. In the librarian's report, Mrs. Mounce stated that there is a librarian's position open since Robin Jones accepted a job at the George Bush Library and Museum as executive assistant. She reported that the new databases are accessible. Bryan Public Library has a newly installed fire alarm system paid for by Safety Dividends from Risk Management. Stephanie Sale of the Bryan Coca Cola Foundation will provide funding for a gateway design for downtown Bryan. The triangle piece of property is on Main Street between 28th and 291 where the railroad tracks are located. TAMU architecture students designed four concepts for the project which are on display at the Bryan Library. The hired architect will use some of the design elements from the project for a final proposal. Joey Dunn stated ground breaking ceremonies will be held the next day for the Health Science Center. 9. The next meeting will be March 18, 2008 and the agenda will include election of officers. Contact Laura Mills if you have an agenda item. 10.
