MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING BRYAN+COLLEGE STATION PUBLIC LIBRARY SYSTEM ADVISORY BOARD September 16, 2008 1.On the 16th day of September 2008, the Bryan + College Station Public Library System Advisory Board of the cities of Bryan and College Station, Texas, met in a regular meeting at the Bryan Public Library, 201 E. 26th Street, Bryan,Texas. 1. Larry Ringer called the meeting to order at 5:15 p.m. and the following members were present: 2. Also present were Clara Mounce, Community Librarian;David Gerling, City of College Station, Joey Dnnn, City of Bryan Deputy City Manager; and Laura Mills,Adm. Asst. 4. The minutes of the meeting for July 15, 2008 meeting were approved as distributed. 5. The monthly stats for July and August were discussed. Circulation for Bryan increased both months while Larry Ringer Library decreased slightly. 6. A. In old business, Mr. Ringer reported that the Capital Improvement Project Committee info had been prepared by the College Station staff to distribute to citizens. The Library Expansion project will be listed as a separate item on the November ballot. With the Presidential Election the same day, heavy voter turnout is expected. 7. A. In new business,the Board Members received a summary of the Summer Reading Program for both libraries(attached). B. Mrs. Mounce reported that the Polaris ILS contract had not been signed. If not signed before October, the installation will be rescheduled to the busy summer months. Charles Smith made a motion that President Larry Ringer send a letter to College Station Mayor Ben White on behalf of the Board recommending the contract be signed. Seconded by James Bradford,the motion carried. 8. In the librarian's report, Mrs. Mounce reported that the Central Texas Library System may experience some changes and reduce support to member library for Interlibrary Loan. Our library system will receive courier service only 3 days a week instead of 5. Mrs. Mounce has received several applications for the Assistant Community Librarian position. Helen Kunz and Mary Fran Troy will attend the September CTLS membership meeting that features a workshop on selling books for profit on E-bay. Two sections of shelving had been added to the Ringer Library. The Friends of the Library Book Sale is October 4-5,2008. 9. The next meeting will be November 18, 2008 at the Carnegie History Center. Bryan Public Library. Contact Laura Mills in the administrative office at 979-209-5614 if there are agenda items to be discussed. 10.
