HomeMy WebLinkAbout05/16/2006 - Regular Minutes - Bryan College Station Library System Advisory Board f � MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING BRYAN+COLLEGE STATION PUBLIC LIBRARY SYSTEM ADVISORY BOARD • MAY 16, 2006 On the 16th day of May 2006, the Bryan + College Station Public Library-Advisory Board of thecities of Bryan and College Station, Texas, met in a regular scheduled meeting at the Carnegie History Center, 111 S. The meeting was called to order at 5:15 p.m. by President Larry Ringer. The order of business was changed to allow the librarians to make presentations about the Summer Reading Club activities. Autumn Mortenson provided folders to the Board about the activities to be held on Tuesdays at the Larry Ringer Library,including story time and Teen Reading Club programs. Robin Jones provided handouts to the Board regarding the activities at the Bryan Library which will be held for the first time on Saturdays. The change was implemented to allow working parents an opportunity to attend the sessions on the weekend. Both libraries are utilizing teen • volunteers to help with programs and,shelving tasks. 4. The minutes of the meeting for March 21,2006 were approved as distributed. 5. The monthly stats for March and April were discussed. Circulation continued to increase. 6. In old business, Mrs. Mounce reported both City Councils approved and signed the Intergovernmental contract between the cities of Bryan and College Station regarding the Larry Ringer Library. 7. In new business, the Board reviewed and made suggested changes to the Library Handbook that includes existing policies and procedures along with a few newly created policies. At the next meeting,the Board will continue the discussion. Once the changes are madeand the final draft is ready,the Library Handbookwill be submitted to the City Councils for approval. 8. In the Librarian's report, Mrs.Mounce-reported-that she visited with author and:actress Julie Andrews at the- Texas Library Association Annual Conference in April. 9. Agenda items for the next meeting on July 18th at the Larry J. Ringer Library include the further'discussion of the Library Handbook. 10.
