OF THE BRYAN+COLLEGE STATION PUBLIC LIBRARY SYSTEM ADVISORY BOARD
• May 16, 2000
On the 16th day of May, 2000 the Bryan+College Station Public Library Advisory Board of the cities of
Bryan and College Station, Texas, met in a regular meeting in the meeting room at the Bryan Public
Library, 201 E. 26th Street,Bryan, Texas and the following members were present:

2. Also present were Mrs. Clara B. Mounce, Community Librarian; Mrs. Laura E. Mills,
Secretary/Library; and Ms. Robin Jones, Youth Services Librarian.
3. President Larry Ringer called the meeting to order.
4. The minutes of March 7, 2000 were approved as distributed.
5. Monthly statistics for February,March, and April 2000 were discussed.
• 6. There was no old business.
7. A. In new business, Ms. Jones informed the Board of plans for the Summer Reading Club.. She stated
that she and Mrs. Duncan had performed 12 puppet shows at the local elementary schools to announce the
summer activities. Also, the Friends of the Library will provide funds for the performers and events
scheduled. The City of College Station provided professional graphic work for the 11 X 17 " flyers and
printed 15,000 for distribution to schools and patrons.
B. Mrs. Mounce announced that she and Cathie McQuistion attended the workshop required to obtain
the Gates Foundation Grant for computers. The library system will acquire 23 computers with software
and installation provided valued at $140,000. Installation of the computers probably will begin in October
2000.
8. In the Librarian's report, Mrs. Mounce reported the she traveled to Richmond, Texas with a College
Station Task Force group to observe the George Family Center. The Fort Bend County operates a center
that offers social, legal, health assistance and other services.
9. The next meeting will be held at the Carnegie Library on July 18 , 2000.
10. The meeting adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
