OF THE BRYAN+ COLLEGE STATION PUBLIC LIBRARY SYSTEM ADVISORY BOARD
July 20, 1999
On the 20th day of July 1999, the Bryan+ College Station Public Library Advisory Board of the cities of
Bryan and College Station, Texas, met in a regular meeting in the Carnegie Center of Brazos Valley History,
111 S. Main, Bryan, Texas, and the following members were present:

2. Also present were Mrs. Clara B. Mounce, Community Librarian and Mrs. Laura E. Mills, secretary/Library.
3. President Larry Ringer called the meeting to order. The board convened around the antique oak library
table used by the library board many years ago. There were no visitors.
4. Dave Moore moved that the minutes for May 1999 be approved; seconded by Mary Chauvin, the motion
• passed.
S. Monthly statistics for May and June 1999 were discussed. Mrs. Mounce stated the Dynix system was
operating at the Carnegie Center and some statistics would be collected from that facility also. She
commented that circulation is always the greatest in the month of June due to the Summer Reading Club:
6. Business: A. Mrs. Mounce reviewed the budget requests for FY1999-2000.. The board was in support of
the budgets as submitted for Bryan and College Station Libraries. Mrs. Mounce stated that we are fortunate
that TCA cable provides free access for internet use in the library system.
B. Mrs. Mounce stated that the Carnegie Center will receive a portion of the Madeley estate to be used for
the genealogy collection.
7. A. Mrs. Mounce was proud to announce the rededication of the Carnegie Library as the Carnegie Center of
Brazos Valley History at a festive ceremony held on July 10, 1999. About 300 guests celebrated the reopening
of the beautifully refurbished library. It was mentioned that the Friends of the Sterling Evans Library Board
would tour the center on July 30, 1999.
8. Summer Reading Club 1999 will be discussed at the September meeting. The meeting will be held at the
College Station Library.
9. The meeting adjourned at 6:00 p.m.
