OF THE BRYAN PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD
ir March 19, 1996
1. On the 19th day of March, 1996,the Library Board of the City of Bryan, Texas convened in a
regular session in the auditorium of the Bryan Public Library,201 E. 26" Street,Bryan, Texas,
and the following members were present:

Also present was Mrs. Clara B. Mounce, City Librarian;Ms. Angela Alford, College Station
Librarian;Mrs. Kathleen Dill, Youth Services/Automation Librarian;and Mrs. Laura E Mills,
secretary/Library.
3. There were no visitors present.
4. The previous minutes for May 1995 and January 1996 were approved as read.
5. Monthly statistics for the months of January and February 1996 were discussed.
6. There were no committee reports.
7. In the librarians' reports,Ms. Alford reported that business is good. A new book browser
will ease shelving of Easy picture books. Additional shelving for fiction should beelivered next
week. Mrs. Dill stated that plans for the Summer Reading Club activities have st�ed. A
Central Texas Library System workshop was hosted at our library February 23. Automation
plans are continuing with the proposed contract to be approved at the City Council meeting on
March 26. Training for Mrs. Dill and Ms. Cathie McQuistion will be in Provo,Utah. An
estimated date of going on-line is 210 days after the contract is signed.
Mrs. Mounce informed the board that the 3-M Book Security System would be relaced.
She had purchased a new lap-top computer since the hard disk had crashed several times
on the one she currently uses. The staff has one part-time clerk's position open at his time.
There are 35 new CD's for the genealogy computers.
8. In unfinished business,Mrs. Mounce announced that the contract for the Carnegie Library
Restoration had been approved by the City Council. The next step will be bids for
determination of asbestos and lead paint in the building. Move-in is expected Dec. 1997.
Bill Barzak commented that he is a member of the College;Station Library Committee and will
represent views of the community on how the library should be developed.
9. There were no requests for items for the agenda.
The meeting adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
