OF THE BRYAN LIBRARY BOARD
September 18 , 1991
0 1 . On the 18th of September 1990 , the Library Board of the City of
Bryan, Texas convened in a regular session in the Library auditorium
at 5 : 05 p .m. and the following members were present :

Also present were Mrs . Clara B . Mounce, City Librarian; Ms . Alice Nixon
Associate City Librarian, and Mrs . Laura Mills , secretary .
3 . No visitors were present .
4 . The minutes of the July 17th meeting were approved as corrected .
5 . Statistics for July and August were reviewed . Mrs . Mounce stated
that circulation for these months followed the typical pattern of
heavy circulation during the summer months .
6 . A .The Nominating Committee report proposed Mildred Thomas as
president and Ragna Tolson as vice-president of the Library Board .
il • A motion to accept these nominations was made by Elaine Vance ;
seconded by Randy Booher , the motion carried .
7 . In the librarian ' s report , Mrs : Mounce informed the Library Board
that the City of Bryan provides liability coverage for members of
boards and commissions for losses arising from performing duties
within the scope of this office with the City . Mrs . Mounce
reported that the library ' s participation in Festifall ' 90 had been
a success . Films , puppet shows , a petting zoo and a program by the
Brazos Valley Caged Bird Club were featured . Mrs . Mounce reported
that registration for the Summer Reading Club for 1990 was 1 , 544
for Bryan, 540 for College Station Library and 99 for the
Bookmobile. The librarian commented that Info-trac, a computerized
version of Magazine Index has been frequently used and seems
popular and successful with students doing research .
B .A. Mrs . Mounce reported to the Board that the 1990-91 budget
increased book monies and that the state funds were higher .
B .The regional Texas Conference on Library and Information Services
was held at the library in September . Judy Duer , regional co-
chairman of TCLIS , and Alice Nixon , were facilitators . Gary Halter
and Joseph Ogg were featured speakers . Elaine Vance and Mildred
1 Thomas were nominees for the regional meeting in Georgetown on
October 20 .
C.The window replacement for the north side of the building started
on this date. The recarpeting project for the first floor is
scheduled for October and starting date does not appear to suffer
any delays .
