On the 21st of November, 1989, the Library Board of the City of Bryan, Texas convened in a regular session in the Library auditorium at 5 : 05 p.m. , and the following members were present . 2 . The minutes for September were approved as corrected". 5 . Statistics for September and October were reviewed. Mrs . Mounce noted that circulation for those months averaged a decrease . of 2 , 000 whereas the Branch library circulation increased by about 2 ,000 . 6 . The City Librarian commented that the bid had been opened for • thermal windows in the library to reduce condensation inside the building. 7 . In the librarian' s report , Mrs . Mounce reported that the library has had a high employee turnover rate . She reported on the Planned Change Effort and Audit Committee project . Of the 16 blockages presented, 50% have been resolved, 30% will have no change, and 20% are in progress . Regarding the College Station Library committee, a survey will be sent to residents to gather information about what the community desires in library services . 8 . A restoration committee for the Carnegie Library has been formed to unite efforts of several groups . Elaine Vance will follow up on a letter sent to the City Council last May from the Friends requesting formation of a committee to fund raise for restoration of Carnegie. 9 . The City Librarian recommended a change in library procedure for lost and damaged materials . A damaged book would be discarded, so if a patron requests the property he has paid to replace, he can be given the damaged item. The Library Board recommended this change be adopted. 10 .There were no requests for the next agenda. 11 .The meeting adjourned at 6 : 15 P.M. Mrs . C rola Gibbs A ord Clara B .
