On the 16th of May, 1989, the Library Board of the City of Bryan, 41/ Texas convened in a regular session in the Library auditorium at 5 :05 p.m. and the following members were present : 2 . Jerilynn Williams, Associate City Librarian, and Mrs . Laura Mills , secretary. 3 . No visitors were present . 4. The minutes for March were approved as presented. 5 . Statistics for March and April were reviewed. Circulation statistics were lower in March due to the temporary closing of the children' s area during recarpeting . 411 6 . There were no committee reports . 7 . In the librarian' s report , Mrs . Mounce reported that over $1 ,000 had been donated to the College Station Branch as memorials to Gail Fitch. Also the Woman's Club of Bryan sponsored a fund-raiser tea that generated over $700 in donations for the main library' s videocassette collection. The City Librarian stated that she and Jeri Williams would be attending the American Library Association Annual Conference in June. Mrs . Mounce reported that the recarpeting project had been accomplished in the Rountree Room. Remodeling of the circulation area was delayed until later this summer due to the late shipment of the furniture. Mrs . Williams then gave a report on the Summer Reading Club and a brief overview of the activities planned for the Wednesday programs . 8 . There was no unfinished business . 9 . In new business , the City Librarian reported that she was working on a no-growth budget for 1989-90 . She stated that she would be meeting this month with the College Station administration regarding the Branch library. Plans for expansion and/or relocation and budget items would be discussed. 10 .
