On the 15th of January, the Library Board of the City of Bryan, Texas, convened in regular session in the regular place in the Reading Area of the_ Library Building_„__ at 5 p.m. with the following members present: 2 . Mounce, City Librarian,; Mrs. Jerilynn A . Williams, Associate City Librarian ; and Mrs. 111. Laura Mills, secretary. .3. There were no visitors. 4. The minutes were approved as mailed. 5 . There was no comment on the monthly report of statistics for the months of November and December , 1985. 6. There were no committee reports. 7 . Mrs . Mounce reported that the Kurzweil Reading Machine will be delivered to the library this week. She will attend a two day training session in Waco in order to learn hoer to operate the computer . A mailing list of potential users is being developed. Mrs . Mounce stated that the bathroom modifications for handicapped persons accessibility is still going on . Several delays have prevented the contractors from finishing the _Tib in a timely manner . The Bookmobile is at Fleet Operations for repair and a new paint _rob and is expected to be finished by February 1 . Mrs . Mounce commented that she is investigating the problem of excessive electrical consumption in the library Are energy auditor has agreed that there is a problem since the boilers and compressors run concurrently . The city 's Energy Auditor has reviewed the system in order to make recommenda— tions , Mrs . Mounce will continue to press for answers from management regarding the abnormal kilowatt usage. Page 1 SA.. Mrs. Mounce reported on progress of the Branch Library. A meeting was held in December at which both city managers of Bryan and College Station were present . It was acknowledged that a formal request from the College Station city (Th, management had never been received by the City of Bryan . However, a formal request was received shortly and was considered at the Bryan City Council Meeting last Monday. The City Librarian and College Station 's city management and engineers have looked into the possibility of leasing the Ira 's building close to K—Mart . The building has 10,000 square feet and with some modifications would be desirable as a branch library. The Bryan City Manager has been authorized to negotiate a contract with the City of College Station to operate this branch library. 8 .B . Mrs . Nilliams asked the Board to write down the new phone number (690-6000) of the Adult Literacy Council which has been organized from the program initiated by the library last year . She reported that training sessions have been held to train tutors in the reading program and that Carol Parzen has been hired as a part--time coordinator for the Council . The Council is also looking at a regional program to include other counties . Mrs. Nilliams commented that the seed had been planted and the work will continue through this program for the benefit of citizens of Bryan—College Station . SC . Mrs . Nilliams reported that the circulation changes discussed at the November board meeting have been accomplished . A flyer was given to each patron during the month of December informing of the changes and positive comments indicated that the changes were necessary to provide better service. 9.
