policy is modified. During a discussion of the fines, which now can reach
the replacement cost of an item, instead of the old $1.00 limit, it was
agreed that the library staff would continue to point out the cost of
fines, give out the book mark that has been in use since December 1982
when fines were increased, and add to the signage by having large print
signs made for the check out counter top. Mrs. Mounce was asked to in-
vestigate the use of a note that says "Fines--25 cents per day" to be
inserted or placed on each book. Mrs. Mounce agreed to increase the aware-
ness of the amount of the fines where possible.
