considered to be in very poor conditon. The librarian will contact Dr. Jay Williams
about improvement of these areas.
The Board also looked at the fire escape which has to be readjusted after
every time it is made to descend. Otherwise it will descend so rapidly that it is
considered a safety hazard. Mr. Paulos suggested it be left permanently down and
close in the area it occupies.
The librarian and Mrs. Muetzel discussed some of the highlights of the Texas
Library Association meeting in Fort Worth.
The Sunset Advisory Commission's request for input was distributed to Board - -

The librarian discussed the need to purchase an automatic sound filmstrip
viewer/projector which uses cassette with 35 mm filmstrips for the children's
department. In the past, filmstrips have been available with phonograph records.
The trend now is to cassette tapes instead and the library's audio visual funds
will be used this year-to purchase the new format. The Board gave its unanimous
approval to the purchase of this equipment with money from the Todaro Estate.
A discussion of the memorial books program concluded with the Board requesting
an outline of all procedures currently used to be presented at the June meeting
of the Library Board. The members discussed the possibility of restructuring the

book with each donation.
