The Carnegie Library Board of Trustees held its regular meeting on
March 12, 1969 at 5:00 P. M. in the Library.
Mr. Edsel Burkhart, President of the Board, presided. Other members
present were Mrs. Dan Hudson, Dr. Paul Crawford and Mr. Bookman Peters.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
It was noted that there was a drop in circulation from February of
last year.
Mrs. Hudson moved the approval of the book order. Dr. Crawford seconded
it and the motion passed.
There was a discussion of the progress of the new building. Moving
in by summer of this year still seemed a possibility. Some of the furniture
has come and is stored in the Utilities building.
The Librarian reported that Mr. Paradowski had agreed to come and look
at the furniture and shelving which is to be refinished before removal to
the new building and give an estimate on the cost of refinishing. He has
not as yet come.
The Carnegie Library's application for Title I funds for 1969 has been
approved by the State Library. We will not receive all of the money which
is to be used for the purchase of books, microfilm and for rebinding at one
time. As we receive invoices for these items they are to be sent to Mr.
Dansby, who will make request for funds to the State Library's fiscal officer
and then pay for them.
The Librarian reported the arrival of the plastic carrying cases for
the pictures in the Art Lending collection.
On personnel, the resignation of Mrs. Powell as part-time librarian,
was reported by the Librarian. Mrs. Cardwell, who is also part-time , will
assume Mrs. Powell's hours.
The meeting adjourned at 6:00 P. M.
