Home My WebLink About09/03/1996 - Regular Minutes - BVSWMAMINUTES BRAZOS VALLEY SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT AGENCY 1:30 p.m., September 3, 1996 City of Bryan Training Room BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Lonnie Stabler; Tom Brymer, College Station Assistant City Manager; Mike Conduff, Bryan City Manager; Rick Conner, Bryan Public Works Director. OTHERS PRESENT: Bill Angelo, BVSWMA Executive Director; Joy Leighman, BVSWMA Staff Assistant; Roxanne Nemcik, College Station Interim City Attorney. AGENDA ITEM 1: Call to Order. Mayor Stabler called the meeting to order at 1:35 p.m. AGENDA ITEM 2: Consider the minutes of the August 6, 1996 Board Meeting. Mr. Brymer made a motion to approve the minutes. Mr. Conduff seconded the motion. Mr. Conner requested the minutes be corrected to reflect his absence from the meeting. The Board unanimously approved the minutes as corrected. AGENDA ITEM 3: Consider a Settlement Offer from ITT Hartford relative to the Cluff Construction Contract for the Fill Sector 4, 6, and 11 Development Project. Mr. Angelo and Ms. Nemcik both briefly discussed the item and recommended acceptance of the settlement offer to the Board. Mr. Conduff made a motion to accept the settlement offer. Mr. Conner seconded the motion. The Board unanimously approved the motion. AGENDA ITEM 4: Board Member Comments. Mr. Brymer commented that he hoped everyone had a good Labor Day holiday. Mr. Conner requested that BVSWMA Staff strongly encourage customers with brush loads to go to the Bryan Composting Facility instead of the landfill. AGENDA ITEM 5: Director's Report. • Mr. Angelo informed the Board that Staff had discovered solid waste on the side slope of the Phase 3 barrier wall. He further informed the Board that the problem has been corrected and both the TNRCC and the College Station City Attorney have been notified. Mr. Angelo reported the latest groundwater monitoring test results to the Board. • Mr. Angelo informed the Board of his intent to be on vacation in Aruba from September 20-28, 1996.
