Members Present: Jon Denton, Anne Hazen, Colleen Risinger, Jean Roberts, Dorihea Robinson,
Ron Silvia and Joanna Yeager
Members Absent: E.E. Burns, Joyce Davis, Dorothy Hernandez and Neal Nutall
Staff Present: Marci Rodgers, Senior Services Coordinator
I. Call to order The meeting was called to order at 10:00 a.m. by Ron Silvia, Chairman
IL Welcome guests and visitors No guests or visitors present
III. Approval of minutes from regular meeting on April 26, 2010 Anne Hazen made
the motion to approve the minutes. Colleen Risinger seconded the motion. The
motion passed unanimously.
IV. Discussion, consideration and possible action concerning an update on the
steering committee for a non-profit organization Anne Hazen reported that the
letter ran in the Eagle on Mother's Day. She has received one response and the
individual was in favor of the committee's formation. The committee would like to
see more interest.
V. Discussion, consideration and possible action concerning meeting with the L.
Ringer Library staff on summer programs Marci Rodgers reported that the Ringer
Library staff has created a newsletter and copies were distributed. The newsletter
included information on a new Adult Summer Reading Program and Book Club. The
newsletter calendar includes a list of events for the summer including a reception that
will be held on Tuesday, May 25th at 5:30 pm to meet Larry Koeninger, Community

Librarian. College Station Senior Services will help provide refreshments for the
kick-off of the Book Club on June 17th starting at 6:30 pm at the Ringer Library.
VI. Discussion, consideration and possible action concerning update on Goals for
2010 Marci Rodgers reported that she was working on Senior Discounts available in
the community, but needed the help of the committee to assist in gathering this
information. In order to show support for the Library programs, Joanna Yeager
made the motion that an addition to the goals be made stating that the Senior
Advisory Committee should try to attend as many of the library activities as possible.
Jean Roberts seconded the motion. The motion passed. Jon Denton also shared
information on"Fun after Fifty"programs offered in the Temple Parks and Leisure
Services brochure.
VII. Discussion, consideration and possible action on recommendations to Parks and
Recreation Advisory Board regarding appointment of Chairman and Vice-
Chairman.

C a m.a . Marci Rodgers reported that the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board
will make the new member appointments at their June 15thmeeting. Three
applications have been received. Jea .Roberts made the motion that Joanna Yeager
serve as Chairman for the next year and Anne Hazen serve as vice-chairman. Ron
Silvia seconded the motion. The motion passed. This recommendation will be taken
to the June meeting of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee.
VIII. Presentation, possible action and discussion on Senior Services Coordinator
report regarding upcoming programs and events. (report on file)
• Senior Expo will be held on Wednesday, May 26th at the Brazos Center
Joyce Davis, Robert Meyer, Dorthea Robinson and Jean Roberts will help in
the C. S. Parks and Recreation Dept, Senior Services booth.
IX. Presentation, possible action and discussion on future agenda items: A
Committee member may inquire about a subject for which notice has not been
given. A statement of specific factual information or the recitation of existing
policy may be given. Any deliberation shall be limited to a proposal to place the
subject on an agenda for a subsequent meeting.
