Minutes Members Present: Jean Adams, Carole Blaschke, Bryana Childers, Jerry Crockett, Russell Kohel, Jeanne Machrowicz, June Morris, Arlene Petroski, Mickey Stokes, Darla VanFickell, Christine Williams, Janet Wood and Joanna Yeager Members Absent: Margaret Carmichael and Norma Teetes Staff Present: Marci Rodgers I.Call to order: The meeting was called to order at 10:00 a.m. by Jerry Crockett, Chairman II.Hear Visitors: No visitors III.Approval of minutes from meeting held on June 27, 2016: A motion was made to approve the minutes by Mickey Stokes. Darla VanFickell seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. IV.Report from Goals Sub-Committee: (report attached) the committee received notes from the July 13, 2016 meeting of the Goals Sub-Committee. Mickey Stokes reported that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss and update current 2016 Senior Advisory committee Goals. The sub-committee discussed plans for a plaque unveiling reception in honor of Wanda and Bob Meyer for their generous gift to advance and support the city’s senior programs. The unveiling will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at Southwood Community Center. Past and present Senior Advisory Committee members, Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and Mayor and City council will be invited as well as interested individuals. V.Report from Program Sub-Committee on fall calendars: (report attached) the committee received notes from the July 14, 2016 meeting of the Program Sub- Committee. Joanna Yeager reported that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss the next four months activity calendars for senior programs. Members were reminded of the Watermelon Social scheduled for Thursday, July 28, 2016 from 2-3 p.m. VI.Report on Senior Annual Memberships at Southwood. Marci Rodgers reported from June 1, 2015 to the present we have 335 Senior Annual Memberships at Southwood. Of those 160 are new, 173 have been renewed and 2 transferred. Also, we have added the question, “How did you learn about us?” to the application form. City of College Station Page 2 of 2 VII.Presentation, possible action and discussion on Senior Services Coordinator Report regarding current and upcoming programs and events: (report attached) Marci Rodgers reported on upcoming events. The committee received a copy of the August calendar. The committee was advised that water will be shut off at Cindy Hallaran Pool and Southwood Community Center on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 in order for Water Services to replace a water line. All senior programs will be cancelled.  Watermelon Social with CS Police Department: July 28, 2016 from 2-3 p.m.  Meyer Plaque unveiling reception: August 16, 2016 at 1:30 p.m.  Casino Day and Luncheon: August 24, 2016 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. VIII.Presentation, discussion and possible action on future agenda items: A Committee member may inquire about a subject for which notice has not been given. A statement of specific factual information or the recitation of existing policy may be given. Any deliberation shall be limited to a proposal to place the subject on an agenda for a subsequent meeting.  August 29, 2016 Next meeting:  Website sub-committee appointment IX.Adjourn: The committee adjourned at 11:00 a.m.
