Members Present
: Russell Kohel, Arlene Potroski, Joanna Yeager, Rhonda Howland, Bryana
Childers and June Morris

Purpose of the Meeting
: The meeting was held to discuss the next four months activity
calendars for senior programs.
The sub-committee discussed and reviewed August – November calendars.
A brief report was given by Marci Rodgers on recent updates and renovations at
Southwood Community Center
In addition to the new flooring and carpet the City has installed new blinds
o
throughout the building.
The facility has been painted inside and outside
o
New counter tops have been ordered for lobby, kitchen, computer lab and
o
restrooms
New cabinets will soon be installed behind the front desk and in the kitchen
o
New interior doors will soon be installed
o
New speakers in game room
o
The sub-committee made several recommendations for movies to show monthly
New programs in fall include:
“Strictly Business” invited local businesses will make monthly presentations on
o
who they are and what they do.
One on one help for IPad and Tablet Users with College Station High School
o
National Honor Society Students twice a month.
Classes with a fee: photography, sewing gifts for the holiday, genealogy,
o
computer and art classes
Flow and Balance will return on Tuesdays starting September 6th from 1-2 p.m.

Special Events

Fall Fest at Veteran’s Park will be held on Thursday, October 20 from 5-7 p.m.

Dances on Sept. 22 and Dec.15

Brazos Valley Walk to End Alzheimer at Wolf Pen Creek on Sat., Oct. 22 from

8-11a.m.

Day Trip to Houston Nutcracker Market on Thurs. Nov. 10 Ticket cost is
