HomeMy WebLinkAbout08/02/2017 - Regular Agenda - Archived Posting - BCS Metropolitan Planning OrganizationPolicy Board Meeting Agenda Wednesday August 2, 2017, 9:00 AM Brazos County Commissioners' Courtroom 200 South Texas Avenue, Bryan, Texas 77803 AGENDA 1) Welcome and Open Meeting -Pledge of allegiance to the United States and Texas Flags and Invocation. 2) Public Comments regarding items not on the agenda -Individuals who wish to address the Policy Board must fill out a Public Comment Card describing the topic(s) they wish to address. Public Comment Cards may be obtained from Lisa Lyon of the MPO staff prior to the start of the meeting. Please limit your comments to three minutes per topic. Additional time will be allotted if Policy Board members have questions. 3) Minutes from the June 26, 2017 Policy Board meeting. -Consider adoption - Action Required. (See attachment.) 4) Staff Report • FM 60 Bicycle and Pedestrian Access and Safety Concepts • FM 2818 Corridor Study • Travel Demand Model 5) Adoption of the FY 2018 — FY 2019 Unified Planning Work Program --The MPO is required to develop a Unified Planning Work Program (UP WP) every two years to cover planning activities for the upcoming two year period. Most of'the UP WP is static and remains unchanged, especially in Task One — Administration/ Management, Task Two —Data Development and Maintenance, and Task Three — Short Range Planning. In FY 2018 — FY 2019 we will need to update our Metropolitan Transportation Plan, which is a significant portion of'the FY2018 budget. In Task Five — Special Studies, we have included the FM 60 Corridor Study Phase Two to cover the segment fi°om Texas Avenue to Boonville in FY 2018 and added work tasks related to the Texas Innovation Alliance and the Houston to Fort Worth Corridor Concept. For FY 2019 under Special Studies, we have included tasks for the development of a Congestion Management Process and work to assure a smooth transition to Transportation Management Area status. Per public participation procedures, a notice for public comments was posted on the MPO website and a press release sent to local media outlets for distribution. Action Required. Texas A&M Transportation Institute. Dr. Poe will provide an overview of the automated vehicle proving ground partnership that received US Department of Transportation designation as a national proving ground. Dr. Poe will also highlight how the B/CS region canfurther engage in statewide activities. 7) Wellborn Road Lane Reconfiguration Project -The City of Bryan is resurfacing and reconfiguring Wellborn Road between the Z -Islander and Clay Street. Once complete, this portion of Wellborn Road will have a new asphalt surface, new striping and new traffic signals. This work will aid in reducing congestion at the intersection of Old College Road and F&B Road. (See attachment.) 8) September 6, 2017 Policy Board Meeting -The September Policy Board meeting will be held as scheduled.
