The following specific variation from the ordinance is requested.
VARIANCE TO ALLOW THE OMISSION OF REQUIREMENTS FOR A FIRE LANE.
This variance is necessary due to the following special conditions.
rah PHYSICAL SIZE OF THE SITE WILL NOT ALLOW THE LAYOUT OF A FIRE LANE.
The following alternatives to the requested variance are possible.
THE NEW CLASSROOM ADDITION.`-WILL BE SEPARATED FROM 1Hr. EXISTING BUILDING BY
A FOUR HOUR FIRE WALL, AND ALTHOUGH NOT REQUIRED PER ORDINANCE, AN APPROVED
AUTOMATIC SPRINKLER SYSTEM WILL BE PROVIDED. -
This variance will not be contrary to the public interest by virtue of the following
facts_ THE BUILDING WILL BE PROVIDED WITH AN APPROVED AUTOMATIC SPRINKLER
SYSTEM. THIS SYSTEM WILL BE ACTIVE 24 HOURS A DAY AND PF.RIODICATJY
TESTED TO SUFFICIENTLY PERFORM IN THE EVENT OF A FIRE.
The facts stated by me in this application are true and correct to the best of my knowledge.

Dear Mr. Savage:
The Construction Board of Adjustments and Appeals voted 7-0,with one abstention, in favor of granting a
variance to Ordinance Number 2159, Section 602.6.1,City of College Station Code of Ordinances.
This vote was taken November 17, 1997 with the understanding that the building in question be sprinkled
in compliance with the N.F.P.A. 13.
