CBA for May 21, 1992.
Your submittal complies in principal with the CBA motion on this
item. In order to complete the fire lane around the buildings as shown
and release building permits, you must complete the following details:
1. You must secure the permanent right of that fire lane to be placed
on the adjacent property to assure the continuance of fire access
according to the codes of this city. A legal description and
agreement with the adjacent owner must be acquired. The City
attorney will review the agreement and approve it as to form.
2. You must complete the construction of the fire lane. The fire lane
must be capable of bearing the weight of our fire trucks in all
weather conditions. The minimum pavement structure acceptable
is 6" line stabilized subgrade, 6" crushed limestone and 1-1/2
inches of hot mix asphalt cement (HMAC) or a 2 course asphalt
seal coat surface. Equivalent structures will be considered.
Equivalent structures might be:
a. 12" limestone base, 1- 1/2 HMAC or seal coat;
b. Geotextile fabric or geogrid, 6" limestone base and 1-1/2 inches
HMAC or seal coat; and
c. Compacted subgrade and 6" reinforced concrete other you may
wish to submit will be considered.

saturated soil conditions and it must have a surface to protect against
erosion.

Re: Appeal of the May 21 , 1992 decision of the Construction Board of
Adjustments and Appeals , regarding the Fire Lane Ordinance as it affects
the property at 7610 Eastmark Dr .

College Station City Ordinance No . 1630 amends Chapter 6 of the Standard
Fire Prevention Code and states:
Section 602 .6 .6 ( a)
No building of any type construction for occupancy shall be constructed in
such a manner that any part of the structure is more than one hundred fifty
feet ( 150' ) from a public street or highway , provided , however , that such
structure may be erected at a greater distance if the owner designates ,
constructs and maintains a fire lane or access easement having a minimum
width of twenty feet (20 ' ) and minimum height clearance of fourteen feet
( 14 ' ) , terminating within one hundred fifty feet ( 150 ' ) of of thefe furthenmost
point of such structures; providing further , however ,
shall be required for any single family or duplex dwelling .
Section 6O26 -7 ( a )
Any fire lane more than 100 ' in length shall either connect at each end to
a dedicated street or be provided with a turn-around having a minimum
radius of eighty feet (80 ' ) when measured from curb to curb . All fire lanes
shall be maintained and kept in a state of good repair at all times by the
owner , manager , or perpon nbecharge
