& M Consolidated. I once asked Marcia why she did not attend Baylor (both
our parents and grandparents graduated from Baylor), she said, "I don't want to
go to Baylor! I want to have fun in college!." Assume she did.
Women were not allowed to attend Texas A & M until about 1965, so attending
A & M was not an option for us. (I graduated in 1960). One perk of being the
daughter of a professor is that we were allowed to attend A & M during the
summer session. This allowed me to graduate from Baylor in three years rather
than four. I loved being the only girl, or one of several girls, in every class I
took! I do remember that my three years at Baylor cost my parents only
$5,000.
loved growing up in College Station. Our neighbors were very friendly and it
was a very safe place to live. Living not far from the campus, I remember
hearing the Yell Practices from insides our house. We never locked our doors,
even at night.
