HomeMy WebLinkAbout1939-0003 - Ordinance - 03/16/1939ORDINANCE NO. 3 AN ORDINANCE SETTING THE DATES OF THE FISCAL YEAR; D:SIG- NATING WHO SHALL PAY TAXES; NOTICE OF TAX RENDITIONS; BOARD OF EQUILIZATION; ASSESSMENT ROLLS; AND DATE OF PAYMENT. Be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Col- lege Station, Texas: SECTION I. The fiscal year of the city shall run from the fifteenth day of April of a given calendar year to the four- teenth day of April of the succeeding calendar year, both days inclusive. SECTION II. Every person, partnership or corporation owning property within the limits of the city shall, between the fifteenth of April and the fifteenth of July, hand to the city secretary, as ex -officio assessor and collector, a full and complete sworn inventory of the property possessed or con- trolled by him, her, or them, within said city limits on the fifteenth day of April of the current year. SECTION III. The City Secretary may send notices by mail to all known property owners of the city, calling their atten- tion to their duty to make the renditions referred to above in Section II hereof. SECTION IV. The Board of Equilization, prescribed by law, shall be composed of three commissioners to be appointee by the City Council. SECTION V. After the assessment rolls have been examined and approved by the Board of Equalization, the City Secre- tary, as ex -officio assessor and collector, may give notice by mail to each property owner, if his address is known, as to the amount of his taxes due. SECTION VI. All taxes shall be paid on or before the fif- teenth day of December of.a current fiscal year. Passed and approved this the 16th. day of March, 1939 A. D. ATTEST: City Sec.etary. • T1!
