ORDINANCE NO. 229
AN ORDINANCE LEVYING TAXES FOR THE USE AND SUPPORT OF TIE ilUNICIPAL
GOVERMENT OF TIS CITY OF COLLEGE STATION AND PROVIDING FOR THE IN-
TEREST AND SINKING FUND FOR THE YEAR 1956-57 AND APPORTIONING EACH
LEVY FOR THE SPEC IF IC PURPOSE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of College Station,
Texas:
Section 1. That there is hereby levied and there shall be
collected for the use and support of the municipal government of the
City of College Station, and to provide Interest and Sinking Fund for
the year nineteen hundred and fifty-six upon allproperty, real,
personal and mixed, within the corporate limits of said City subject
to taxation, a tax of One Dollar ($1.00) on each One Hundred Dollars
(4100.00) valuation of property, said tax being so levied and appor-
tioned to the specific purpose herein set forth:
(1) For the maintenance and support of the general government
(General Fund), eighty cents (S00) on each One Hundred Dollar 0100.00)
valuation of property,•and
(2) For the interest and sinking fund, twenty cents (20¢) of
each One Hundred Dollar ($100.00) valuation of property to be
apportioned as follows:
(a) Water and Sewer Bonds, Voted 1946, seventeen cents (170).
(b) Electric Bonds, Voted 1946, three cents, (30).
OL Section 2. There is hereby levied and there shall be collected
ots from every person, firm, association, or corporation pursuing any
Ap occupation taxed by the General Laws of the State of Texas, an annual
occupation tax equal in each instance to one-half of the State
occupation tax, which said taxes shall be paid annually in advance
,Q except where otherwise provided by the State Laws, in which event
the sante may he paid as is provided by the State Law.

'Q Section 3. All monies collected under this ordinance for the
01 specific items therein named, shall be and the same are hereby appropriated
and set apart for the specific purpose indicated in each item and
the Assessor & Collector of Taxes, and the City Treasurer and the City
Secretary shall keep these accounts so to readily and distinctly show
the amount collected, the amounts expended and the amount on hand at any
time, belonging to such funds. It is hereby made the duty of the Tax
Assessor and Collector of Taxes and every person collecting money for
the City of College Station to deliver to the City Treasurer and.the
City Secretary at the time of depositing any monies, a statement showing
to what fund such deposit should be made and from what source received.
A7.1 receipts for the City not specifically apportioned by this ordinance
are hereby made payable to the General Fund of the City.

force from and after its passage.
