ORDINANCE NO. 132
AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE OFFICE OF ALDERMAN FOR WARD 3
VACANT; ORDERING A Sr.±CIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON JULY 12, 1949
TO FILL SAID VACANCY; APPOINTING TUDGES; PRESCRIBING QTJALIFICATIONS
OF VOTERS; DESIGNATING PLACE OF VOTING; AND PROVIDING FOR
OFFICIAL NOTICE OF ELECTION.
Whereas, Ewing E. Brown has filed notice with the Mayor to the
effect that he will not serve the term as alderman for Ward 3 to
which office he was chosen at the election on April 5, 1949:
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of College
Station, Texas:
1. That the Said office be declared vacant.
2. That a special election is hereby- ordered to be held
on July 12, 1949, for the purpose of filling said vacancy.
3. That R. L. Brown and Mrs. W. D. Lloyd shall serve as the
judges of said election; and that R. L. Brown shall be presiding
judge and is directed to appoint two qualified voters to serve
as clerks.
4. That said election shall be held according to the laws of
the State of Texas governing general elections; that only qualified
voters residing in Ward 3 be allowed to vote; and that voting shall
take place in the City Hall.
5. That as notice of said special election, a copy of this
ordinance, attested by the City Secretary, shall be posted at three
public places in the City at least ten (10) days prior to the
holding thereof.
Passed and approved on this the 29_ day of June 1949.
